Tired of Going Out for Ice Cream? You Need These Creative Date Ideas!!

Writer's picture: Couples AdventuresCouples Adventures

We all know the drill. You're stressing out because you want to go out with that special girl/guy but you don't want to settle for a mediocre date. I've been there. The best part is, you don't have to stay there. In the next two minutes, I will give you some awesome ideas that you can try out and, hopefully, that inspire you to create new ones! You'll be pulling creative date ideas out of your mind like Kevin Hart in Jumanji pulling anything he needs out of his backpack, except hopefully you won't be wearing a dorky backpack on your date.

  1. The Meadow Date

If you're reading this in Utah, lucky you. Because even if you don't realize it, you are at a huge advantage with the natural beauty all around you. And if you take that special someone on this date, you will have an even bigger advantage. (Please note: this date is most successful and fun when done in a group).

Make tin foil dinners beforehand and wrap them up so they are ready and able to cook in a fire. Take a truck up the canyon to a pre-chosen spot (my favorite is up Timpooneke trail in American Fork Canyon), and build a fire to cook your tin foil dinners. While those cook, I think it is always fun to bring cornhole and other games that you can play in the meadow before the sun goes down. As the sun starts setting and food is ready to eat, whip out your camp chairs and have a fun conversation as you eat your food to a beautiful sunset over the valley. Before it gets too dark, make sure to set up an outdoor projector and screen and get comfortable in the bed of your truck with plenty of pillows and blankets to watch a movie under the stars. Boom.

  1. Snowshoeing Dream Date

This date requires more work and preparation, but also maximizes the romanticism. Similar to the last idea, this one also involves a meadow or somewhere up the canyon. Find that place in advance and make sure it is easily accessible by walking in the cold. Please note: This date is probably best if you know the other person well enough to go up the canyon with them. You don't want to freak anyone out when you take them up the canyon.

When you find a place that works, find an evergreen tree nearby and decorate it with lights (and other ornaments if you want). Make sure you have a generator or an extension cord to your car as a way to light it up. Prepare an area for a fire with places to sit (the last thing you want is to be setting all this up when you're date is freezing). Dress warm and snow shoe with your date to the magical winter wonderland you have created, flip on those tree lights, start the fire, and have some hot cocoa while you talk. Tag someone who would not like this and I will reach out to them personally cuz really?

Anyways, these are just two ideas but I got plenty more if you're still lost. However, these dates are sure not to miss and will give you one less thing to worry about on that very important date, because at least you know he/she's mesmerized by your creativity and planning. However, no matter what you do, your date will be much more interested in getting to know you. The best thing you can do is take interest in them; be confident, funny, and nice; and just focus on having fun! Remember, "no one wakes up in the morning hoping they don't get swept off their feet that day." -Hitch the movie. Don't worry about yourself and sweep them off their feet!
