Recently moved to Austin? Longtime residents curious to know all that the city offers? Just in town for a week? Regardless of your situation there are lots of amazing places to visit and things to do in the capital of the Lone Star State for your date night. Austin has it all with its vibrant landscape of art, music, food, and more. Whether you’re looking to explore the great outdoors, check out some live music, sample the local cuisine, or peruse the art scene you’ll find all that and more in this list of Fun Creative Date Ideas!

Barton Spring Pool

Barton Spring Pool is located inside Zilker park. The pool is a whopping three acres in size and is kept warm by underground springs at a balmy temperature of 70 degrees. This makes it perfect for year round swimming whenever you’d like. The pool is open every day till 10pm making it a perfect spot to go even in the evenings when trying to escape that fiery Texas heatwave.

The entry fee for residents is $5 for those 18 and older and $9 for non Texas residents.

Barton Spring Pool Hours

The pool is open 8:00am -10:00pm everyday except Thursday where it is closed from 9am-7pm. You are able to swim between the hours of 5am and 8am every day but there will not be any life guards there at that time so we don’t recommend that. No reservation is needed

The Blanton Museum of Art

Come by to the Blanton Museum of Art to see an astounding collection of over 21,000 works. It is renowned for its European paintings as well as modern and contemporary American and Latin American art. Current visiting Exhibitions that can be seen include Ellsworth Kelly: Postcards, Njideka Akunyili Crosby, and Painted Cloth: Fashion and Ritual in Colonial Latin America.

Interstellar Barbeque

Barbeque so good it seems otherworldly! Interstellar Barbeque in North Austin lives up to its name serving barbeque that creates an out of this world explosion of flavor in every bite that you take. Interstellar Barbeque is run by pit master John Bates and is built upon a few key principles: only using the highest quality ingredients, always source the best wood, take the time to cook one batch at a time, and cook great good for you always placing an emphasis on quality over quantity.

Playland Skate Center

Playland Skate Center is a great date night occasion especially considering that they offer Adult Nights(ages 18+) on Tuesdays and Saturdays so that you can relax and avoid children careening down the rink at you. Have fun skating the rink and jamming out to some tunes while you do!

Pinballz Arcade Austin

With three locations in Austin there will always be a Pinballz Arcade close enough for you to enjoy the plethora of arcade and pinball machines that they have. They have lots of new and Old School retro games to play. They have classics such as Super Mario Bros, Pacman, 007 Golden Eye, Indiana Jones, Jurassic park and more. If pinball games aren’t your fancy they have a plethora of other game types such as classic video games, airy hockey, skee-ball, and more. A great date night activity where you can let your inner child run free.
